Projects

Problems solved before the steel was cut.

Each project starts with a risk: an unfinished design, a shutdown date, a tolerance nobody else would promise. Here is what we engineered, and how it turned out.

Reactor vessel with the Dimartech name stencilled on the shell, in the shop

Featured · Clean technology

Reactor vessel for a first commercial waste-to-fuel plant

Client

Enerkem [permission]

Equipment

Reactor vessel

Code

ASME VIII-1, U stamp

Weight

260,000 lb

Design pressure

1,200 psi

Shell

3 in plate

The risk

Only about 70% of the mechanical design was done when the order was placed.

What we engineered

Completed the design, jig-built the 36,000 lb tube bundle and designed non-standard 6′-8″ girth flanges.

The result

Calculations accepted by the Authorized Inspector; delivered to the plant [confirm date].

Delivered ahead of schedule for a first commercial plant.

Enerkem [permission]

Illustrative line drawing of a tapered dross sump with an inner overlay lining.

Drawing · illustrative

Petrochemical & energy · Pressure vessels

Dross sump

Long-lead Inconel threatened a refinery shutdown. We redesigned with an overlay and met the date.

AZZ / Sinclair Refining [permission]

Rendering of a skid-mounted biomass gasifier with vessels and piping

Clean technology · Reactors

Biomass gasifier

A prototype improved over three orders until it became a commercial product.

OEM [permission]

Water & wastewater · Columns

Pumping columns

Re-sequenced welding held vertical alignment over 30 ft columns with heavy nozzle welds.

Sulzer [permission]

How to read a case study

Every case study covers the risk, the engineering and the result.

Every project page follows the same three steps, with the code, materials and numbers your engineers will ask about.

01

The risk

What could have gone wrong: an unfinished design, a long-lead alloy, a fixed shutdown date.

02

What we engineered

The calculations, redesign and fabrication method, with drawings where the client allows.

03

The result

Inspection, delivery and performance, in numbers.
