Accessibility statement

Everyone should be able to use this website, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or voice control.

The standard we build to

We design and test this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That covers the WCAG 2.0 AA requirements of Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

What we’ve built in

On every page of this website:

  • Pages work with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
  • Pages use one main heading, headings in order, and labelled regions for the header, navigation, content and footer.
  • Images that carry information have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Form fields have visible labels, and required fields are marked in text, not by colour alone.
  • Text and controls meet AA colour contrast, and buttons and menu controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels on touch screens.
  • Nothing moves, flashes or plays on its own, and we respect your device’s reduced-motion setting.

Known limitations

We’re still working on these:

  • On small screens, keyboard focus can move behind the open menu. We’re fixing this.
  • Some form hints, such as upload limits, aren’t yet read out together with their field.
  • French versions of some pages are still being prepared.
  • Some project photos and drawings are placeholders until final images are ready.
  • Downloadable PDFs, such as the capability sheet and spec checklist, may not be fully tagged yet. We’ll send an accessible version on request.
  • [Update this list after the pre-launch accessibility audit.]
